Holistic Ethos Nursery Model

We operate on a basis of a minimum of two days a week, to help children emotionally invest in their nursery experience.

The below fees are inclusive of children’s nappies, wipes, hot/cold meals and snacks, year round celebrations including Birthday parties and presents, regular educational and forest school trips, year round events; such as Mother’s and Father’s Day breakfast and monthly parenting workshops. Fees are inline with other nurseries in our area and reflect outgoings due to location.

Our staff team are very highly qualified and we always have more staff than needed according to ratio’s set by OFSTED.

We employ two Early Years and Primary School Qualified Teachers and our nursery Manager and Deputy  both have Masters Degree Level Qualifications, please see link to our staff page maisiepoppins.com/our-staff.

All our staff are in full time employment and we do not employ bank staff, to allow consistency and stability for children and the nursery as a whole.

We pride ourselves on trailblazing ethical pay for staff and being the first nursery in London and the only nursery in Hackney to be accredited with ‘London living Wage Award’, please see below link for further details.  All staff are paid London Living Wage as a baseline and this incrementally increases as per position in the nursery. Find out more about the London Living wage at livingwage.org.uk.

All of our staff are enrolled on progressive training courses and have regular supervisions to help them develop their professional practice. Our holistic ethos extends to our staff team, as well looked after, nurtured and happy staff leads to well looked after, nurtured and happy children.

We are proud members of the East London Traders Guild; please see eastendtradesguild.org.uk for further details, and strive to promote and work with small local business, to the enrichment of our local community.

New resources that enrich the activities  are bought weekly and we carefully consider how these resources are made as well as where they come from,  inline with our ethos as a green nursery.

The healthy food we serve is cooked by a qualified chef in a professional kitchen, with a Level 5 food hygiene rating. Please see maisiepoppins.com/healthy-eating for our menus.

Inline with our ‘team around the child approach’, we have lot’s of staff and parent events throughout the year to build strong relationships between children’s key person’s and parent’s, swap shops co-organised by staff and parents and our parent partnership board who feedback from a parents perspective on ways of working together to make our nursery and your child’s time in our care the best it can be. We have an ‘open door policy’  and monthly parent workshops to help parents with any queries they may have. The monthly  parent workshops are free for our clients and are expert led by Maisie Collin, who covers topics from toilet training to, neuroscience and how to support your child and their behaviours.

We are closed for x2 inset days a year and we close at 4pm instead of 6pm every 6th Wednesday in order for our full staff meeting to take place, enabling us to provide the best care we can for your child.

This way of working is central to our ethos, creating a calm, nurturing and safe environment for our VIP clients, the children we care for.

All fees are paid monthly in advance via direct debit, with an invoice reminder sent out 5 working days prior and we do not hold deposits.

The 30 Free Hours

How does the 30 Free Hours work?

We use ‘stretching’ calculation method. The government provides funding for 30 free hours for 38 weeks (school year), which is a total of 1140 hours. At Maisie Poppins we are open for 48 weeks and so we ‘stretch’ these free 1140 hours, into the Maisie Poppins year for all eligible 3+ year olds.

How is it calculated?

1140 hours / 48 weeks / 5 days = 4.75 discounted hours per day.
The 3-year-old+ rate is the same daily rate as the 1–3 year olds, with 4.75 hours daily paid for by the government scheme.

The 15 Free Hours

How does the 15 Free Hours work?

We use ‘stretching’ calculation method. The government provides funding for 15 free hours for 38 weeks (one school year), which is a total of 570 hours. At the Maisie Poppins Nursery we are open for 48 weeks and so we ‘stretch’ these free 570 hours, into the Maisie Poppins year for all 3-year-olds+.

How is it calculated?

570 hours / 48 weeks / 5 days = 2.4 discounted hours per day.
The 3-year-old+ rate is the same daily rate as the 1–3 year olds, with 2.4 hours daily paid for by the government scheme.
