Our Approach

Our Approach

Maisie Poppins Childcare was started in 2013 by founder and director Maisie Collin. Maisie has over 23 years’ experience studying and working with children, families and local communities. Her qualifications include a BA Hons degree in English Literature & Theatre Studies, a PGC in Social care & Health and a post graduate diploma in working with children, young people and families within a psychoanalytical approach.

Maisie believes passionately that every aspect of a child’s life and environment is equally important and can be a positive component within their overall development and well-being. This includes learning, playing, eating, sleeping, toilet training and boundary setting.

Maisie has developed The Maisie Poppins Way, an approach that draws on a wide range of resources and practises including early years educational frameworks, evidence-based research, forest school philosophy, the writings of Maria Montessori, Erik Erikson, Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky, all combined with Maisie’s 23 years of experience working with children and families in London and overseas. The Maisie Poppins Way creates a positive and nurturing environment that allows every child’s strengths and qualities to shine.

Our child-led approach nurtures emerging passions and interests so that learning becomes a pleasure not a chore. Our lessons take place in both our inside and outside spaces.

Partnership working

Building authentic partnerships between parents and our team of childcare practitioners is at the heart of what we do. We listen to you, advise you and work with you to make your son or daughter’s childhood the best it can be.

Each child has a dedicated key worker who builds a relationship with your child, you, your family members and any other associated carers. Daily handovers by your child’s key worker ensure golden moments are recounted faithfully along with any other significant events.

You have the option to be kept updated with photos via WhatsApp and we use specific secure software (Kinderly) to email all parents anecdotes and special moments in a daily diary, as well as educational observations and assessments for each child every two weeks.

Our relationship with you is central to what we do and we are always available for tea and a chat about your child’s development in our cosy private family room.

We know that having a network of like-minded parents around you makes a huge difference to positive parenting so our regular social events for parents mean that you will make as many new friends as your children will.
